Declamation: A Life Lived For Others Is A Life Well-Lived

Our school have reopened. After 2 days of the reopening, we were informed about an inter-school declamation competion being held. We were so happy to hear that and started preparing. The topic was-‘A Life Lived For Others Is A Life Well-Lived’.

I wrote the following and now I m preparing for the competition…

‘A Life Lived For Others Is A Life Well-Lived’.

To fully understand this quote from famous Scientist Albert Einstein, one has to first understand the meaning of the phrase “a life well-lived”.

My definition of the phrase “a life well-lived” is a life which is characterised by goodness, which is morally praiseworthy, a life which is valuable in its impact on others and a life which is devoted to the common good.” This is the sort of life that is marked by kindness and compassion and responding to others’ needs.

Although feeling happy and satisfied with one’s life are important individual goals, but these are hardly the only criteria for defining a life lived well, a life worthy of admiration and respect.

Many of us are trapped in what is called a “Utopia complex”, a feeling, which presents us a vision of the perfect life but ultimately leaves us anxious and unsatisfied. It leads us to restrict the purpose of our lives to the fantasies of the perfect marriage, house, family, job, holiday and things like that; and we come to believe that we deserve and are entitled to the best of everything. These fantasies insulate us from deeper and more enduring satisfactions.

But my dear friends, we should always remember that to be perpetually striving for personal happiness is to miss the point of life. Several studies on positive happiness have repeatedly shown that our greatest fulfilment comes from blessing and helping others. If things aren’t going well in our life, reaching out to help or connect with someone else, who needs an emotional lift, will always make us feel better.

The secret to a “life lived well” is to treat others as we would like them to treat us. This is the cornerstone of the good life from which all other worthwhile things are built. Love, being the most powerful, creative force in the world, is the source of all goodness. So, I fully agree with Einstein, when he says that …a life lived for others is a life lived well.

Lets see that with this I m gonna be selected for the inter-scchool competition or not.

The Day Evereything Went Wrong

Recently, I went on a Haridwar-Rishikesh trip, along with my family and friends. It was a 3 day trip and the first 2 days were awesome. We enjoyed a lot and everything was as scheduled.

For the third day, we had planned for an 11 km rafting adventure. This was actually the main attraction of the trip. But unfortinately, everything was distured because of the rains.

On the third day, we woke up on time and it was raining heavily. W wited till it stopped but were already late. We started off in a hurry, but after coming a small distance, we faced a heavy traffic jam. We waited so that it gets cleared but it seemed endless.

We waited for about 1 hour then we finally realized that we had missed the time for rafting and it is useless to try now.Everybody was very dissapointed due to the cancellation of the rafting program. It seemed that nature was turnig against our decision in every way it could.

Finally we decided to return back to Delhi. We headed towards Delhi and soon we were back home safely.

There have been many new sites coming up these days. There is always a rat-race among them to become the best. Some of the popular sites are Ebay, Amazon, Flipcart etc. the market share of these sites is getting captured by each passing dayand offline shopping seems to be loosing its turf.

deprives-you-of-tangibilityEach coin has its two sides. Apart from te various advantages of the online shopping, there are some drawbacks too. Eg- sometimes he customer is not able to judge the quality of the product, some dubious merchants cheat the unsuspect customers. Even online frauds, like crdit card sniffers steal passwords etc which result in people getting cheated. Despite the facts, people prefer online shooping.

Holidays After Annual Exams

When annual exams get finished and the holiday starts, that becomes one of the best moments of the whole year. Every child, has peace in his/her mind and everyone thinks to do something new and creative. Of course, everyone will do the same thing as the term has come to an end and we are free to do everything and anything that we want to do.

Something similar also happened with me after I came out of the examination hall. I could see every face smiling and I could feel myself light as all the stress was over at last. No one even bothered to discuss the paper. Every single person could be seen telling that what she would do in the holidays.

We were also sad that we would be shuffled in the next year due to which our unity as a class would break down. Overall, everyone was happy as the exams as well as the stress was over.

Navya’s Birthday

My sister Navya’s birthday has recently passed. She is now 9 year old. She is always excited to celebrate her birthday with friends. Therefore, as usual she was preety excited this year also. She celebrated her birthday with colony friends.

Everyone enjoys going to a birthday party. But, to organise a birthday party at home is a preety difficult task. One needs to organise the house, think about the menu, games and the most important thing:  return gifts.

This time I  helped my parents a lot. This was because the birthday topics have always attracted me towards it. I decorated the house and shifted things from here to there. Music part was also my responsibility. I even helped mummy in the kitchen. I helped papa with the games. We all were preety excited for the party.

At last, the time arrived when the first doorbell rang, Navya received the bell and her first friend was already there. After that one by one everyone came and Navya was very happy receiving the gifts.  We enjoyed the party as host and children enjoyed the party as guests.

After the party was over everyone congratulated Navya and went home. According to us, the party was a success. I along my family enjoyed the birthday a lot.

The True Meaning Of Christmas

The time has come again. It’s December, a month that brings along the joy of Christmas. Christmas is a religious festival of CaptureChristians. They celebrate this festival to commemorate the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. It is celebrated annually on 25th December.

Christmas is a season of great joy. It is a time of God showing His great love for us. It can be a time of healing and renewed strength. You see, Christmas is when we celebrate the birth of the Christ child. God sent His Son, Jesus, into the world to be born. His birth brought great joy to the world. Shepherds, wise men, and angels all shared in the excitement of knowing about this great event.

qwertyThey knew this was no ordinary baby. The prophets had told of His coming hundreds of years before. The star stopped over Bethlehem just to mark the way for those who were looking for this special child.

On this day, people go to churches, decorate houses and Christmas tree, some like having dinner with family and friends, some make a snowman, make cards and send letters, go for shopping etc.

But have we ever thought that what is the true meaning of Christmas? Is it the gifts under the tree, the lights in the windows, the cards in the mail, turkey dinners with family and friends, snow in the yard, stockings hanging in the living room a nd children waiting eagerly for santa to come and give gifts, and shouts of “Merry Christmas” to those who pass us in the streets?

Is this really Christmas? Is Christmas nothing more than this? Is this what Christmas really means?

Many of us think that it is! But it is not! The true meaning of Christmas lies in the spirit of sharing, loving, caring aimagesnd helping those who are in need. So make your Christmas even more bright and colourful by bringing these moral values in your life.!!!!!

A self written play on clean drinking water

There was an class activity in which I took part. In that we needed to spread awareness on clean drinking water. I chose to write a play to explain my idea well. I think play gives us a real life story through which people can get aware and avoid such happening in their own life.  Here is a short play which I hope you would enjoy reading. Here we go-

One Act Play

Characters: Meetu, Navya and Doctor Chacha

Once, Navya went to her village to meet her grandfather and uncle. She was excited to meet her childhood friend Meetu but was shocked to see her suffering from diarrhea.

Navya: Diarrhea is caused by drinking impure water. Where does water come to your house?

Meetu: From the pond.

Navya: But it’s water is unhygienic!

Meetu: No. Whole village takes water from there.

Navya told her the harmful effects of drinking and using unclean water. But my friend didn’t seem listening. She thought it was just simple disease but didn’t know how it spreads. After seeing her reaction Navya went to the village doctor for help and gathered few neighbours and children to listen him.

Navya: “Chacha, Meetu is ill. Please let us know what caused her illness.”

Doctor Chacha: “Use of contaminated water causes lots of diseases. In our village, people take water from the open wells and ponds, where people even bath and wash our clothes. Our cattle also bath there. Many times dead animals also lie there.”

Meetu: “Does it cause any harm?”

Doctor Chacha: “Yes. It causes spread of bacteria and virus. Harmful chemicals affect our body. We should always boil water before drinking and keep surroundings clean. Never mix toxic chemicals and waste in water resources. We should make use of underground water after ensuring it doesn’t have excess salts and harmful chemicals.”

After this, the villagers together pledged to always use water carefully and wisely and Navya understood that awareness is necessary among people to make a healthier India.

So by this this post I and even you must have learnt that clean drinking water is very necesarry fot health. So we should come forward to promote using of clean water and avoid the wastage of our precious water resource of which without life is impossible!!!!

Review on the difference between ICSE and CBSE

As I told you all in my earlier post theat I had been recently transfered to Delhi, I saw a big difference in the schools. Actually, till now I had been studying in the schools with ICSE patterns but ICSE pattern schools aren’t common in Delhi. Here all the reputed schools are in CBSE boards. There is a slight difference in the study pattern of both the boards.

On my experience based in both the type of schools, I am writing this post. Hope you like it.

There are two very different boards of education in India, and these are CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) and ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education).

These are some of the main highlights in the diffrence between ICSE and the CBSE boards-

Medium of Instruction:

CBSE approves both English and Hindi language as the medium of instructions, ICSE does not recommend Hindi. ICSE schools recommend strict actions if a fellow was found speaking in Hindi.

Curriculum/Course Content:

The syllabus prepared by CBSE is more suitable for qualifying in various entrance examinations, including the medical and engineering professional exams. The syllabus of ICSE is more detailed and requires the student to remember a lot. CBSE is comparatively easier than ICSE.According to me, a child gains nothing useful in ICSE as the child needs to study a lot for the assesment and in the next class or term, the sylabus entirely changes.

One more point of distinction between the two boards is the evaluation and assessment of students. In ICSE, internal assessments are vital and practical tests are aggregated with the overall scores. ICSE lays more emphasis on lab work. Also, a career in English Literature or Language is best suited for ICSE students.

Teaching Methodology:

With the changing times both the boards are aiming for active learning. CBSE and ICSE had prescribed a certain teaching approach and both have undergone significant change over the past 10 years. The focus has majorly increased on learning through experience and experimentation rather than through one-way teaching.

But then also we can find that working classes in CBSE are more qualified than that of ICSE. Most CBSE school provide smart classes,  more working activities etc.

As I told you earlier, that I had read in both the school types, I would prefer CBSE more that compared to ICSE.
